The Philippines currently has 15 golfers listed in the Official World Golf Ranking. Miguel Tabuena is the lead. Golf may not be as popular or accessible as basketball or boxing. But, this does not mean that Filipino golfers are not making their marks internationally. The current top 10 includes Tiger Woods and today’s generation of golfers he inspired.

The last Summer Olympics which featured golf was in 1904. The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio reinstated golf. The top 15 players in the Official World Golf Ranking were qualified in the men’s category. Other qualified countries can have up to four golfers. Miguel Tabuena and Angelo Que represented the Philippines. Tabuena placed 53rd out of the 60 qualifiers. Unfortunately, Que decided to withdraw from the tournament as a precaution from the Zika virus at the time. The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo will once again include golf and hopefully the Philippines will represented.
We still have a long way to go in landing the top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking. But that does not mean that it is impossible. Other Filipino golfers on the list are:
